Scrapbook paper and glass thingee project!
I'm pretty new to the home decor and craft blogworld...but boy do I luv me some good craft projects!!! I changed careers at age 40 and went from a corporate HR position to going back to school to earn my teaching credentials and master's degree in a dual program. As you may have heard, teachers don't make squat...and they (I) spend hundreds of $$$$ each year to buy classroom supplies. BUT, I get to spend way more time with my 2 young boys, and that's what it's all about. However, since I got a pay cut this year thanks to the economy, I have to come up with low cost projects for my house....and this is one of them. This was a gift to the teacher who allowed me to student teach in her 5th grade classroom. She is an amazing teacher, and when I saw this project, I knew I had to make one for her!! It's actually from one of my favorite scrapbook designers, Beckyhiggins.com. I looked at the project on her website and duplicated her idea.
All it takes is 1) a few pieces of scrapbook paper, 2) some cute ribbon for trim, 3) glass rounds (found at dollar store), and an old frame (must remove the glass). All you do is print on words on scrapbook paper and glue words and pretty patterns with modge podge onto the glass rounds. Then glue the scrapbook paper onto the frame backing and add ribbon for the trim dividers. Then finish by glueing the glass rounds onto the paper. Needless to say, Mrs. Poulson LOVED the personalized gift!!! And I still need to make one for myself.....
